Starry Night

Updated: Jun 25, 2021

Hey guys, I am Gautham Ramachandran. As many of you know, I love art and artistic expressions. I have also been systematically learning oil painting from an amazing teacher here. For my first blog post here, I have painted Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. In order to get better at art, I have decided to paint some selected paintings of master class artists. I have decided to paint from the master class artists before I make up my own paintings. This painting is amazing in my opinion. The brush strokes are very fine and the painter, even more so. I love how he has blended the strokes to form the painting, kind of like how chainmail sticks together to make armor. In my opinion, the Post Impressionist paintings are the roadmap to modern art.

I decided to paint this also because I like the life of Vincent van Gogh. He was a genius and he was seriously misunderstood. This eventually drove him to his death at a very young age. Can you believe that he never even attempted to paint until he was 27 or 28 years old? He made this painting in 1889. It depicts the view from his room just before sunrise. This painting is currently located at MOMA (Museum Of Modern Art) in New York.

This painting means a lot to me. I think that his paintings are very special because while most paintings depict a scene or subtle feelings, his paintings depict expressive emotions. This is because they are filled with dramatic brush strokes and bold color. In my opinion these paintings are a roadmap to modern art. This painting is very expressive, and it just means that he tried to relay the emotions he was feeling at that moment. His imagination is breathtaking.

In the coming weeks and months, I will be posting many blogs on my own paintings and paintings of other great masters. For now, here is my painting of the great van Gogh’s Starry Night.

Thanks for reading my blog. I will be very happy if you could subscribe to my blog posts and leave some nice comments. And, I’ll see you all on the next one!
